VIDEO: Wave Fields – The Architectural Version of Surf-And-Turf?

During this week’s Living Building Challenge presentation Stella mentioned Maya Lin’s installation ‘Storm King Wave Field’.  This isn’t a new project (2008) but it is an interesting take on biophilia - spread over 11 acres of a former gravel pit, Lin created seven parallel rows of undulating ground inspired by waves. This is part of a series of wave fields Lin installed. In this video Lin describes the project and her inspirations – check out the toy asteroids she made from her kids toys around 3:15 into it!

The artist discusses her new projects, including her new installation at the Storm King Art Center. - NYT
